REGATTA'S THIS WEEKEND
12-03-2013

Event 8 SEQ Traveller Series Bundaberg and Richmond River Sailing Club Regatta

A couple of regattas are scheduled for this weekend in SEQ and Northern NSW.

Bundaberg Regatta

This is event 8 of the SEQ Super Series.  The guys at Bundy have dried out the club and rolled out the welcome mat for this weekend.  The regatta is a two day event with two races saturday and one sunday  first race Saturday starts at 1pm.  Camping is permitted at the club with excellent amenities and catering over the weekend.   Latest advice regarding the regatta from the club is:

“We are just waiting one clearance from the port authority to do with the flood we had last week. Two already this year so that should mean we have at least a month till the next one. Haven't sailed at home since the 19th of January. Shakes are starting to happen. Anyway check the Bundy sailing club web site Friday morning just in case the port put the foot in. For those of you who have been here before there are a few changes. No pontoon to avoid. Most of the boats in the river are gone. Two wrecks around the corner you can sail to, to investigate. No starters box(be a good fishing spot if we can find it). The grass rigging area has been covered by a road so if you have pads bring them. The top grass section is unchanged. Camping onsite is still free and lunch, dinner and breakfast will be available. NOR is on the website. For something different it is now possible to go fully turtle one metre from where you launch at low tide so don't miss your last step. Don’t let any of this put you off. Should be a good weekend.

Bundy website is https://sites.google.com/site/bundabergsailingclubinc/

As this event is part of the SEQ Super Series, there will be a $100 fuel voucher on offer to help with travelling costs which will be drawn after the event.  To be in the draw all you have to do is be part of the Super Series and be travel to the event.  If your name is drawn and you are not at the event the fuel voucher with be added to prize pool for the next event on the series.

Richmond River Sailing Club Regatta

Also this weekend is the Richmond River Sailing Club Regatta at Ballina.  A marathon race up the river is scheduled for Saturday (a lot of fun last time I did it) and two races Sunday.  A BBQ is planned for saturday night.  There are plenty of accommodation options available including a caravan park across the road from the club.
