HUMPYBASH 2014 - RACE REPORT
Nacra 5.8 first ,second and 4th overall at the Humpybong Bash.
he Nacra 5.8s finished 1st ,2nd ,4th and 10th overall on yardstick on the weekend of 18th and 19th of October at the Humby bash north of Brisbane.
Winds on Saturday were around the 20 knot mark with some medium waves and strong tide.
Sunday saw a lot easier day with 10 knots increasing to 15 by the afternoon,
Bundaberg sailors Bruce Potter and Matthew Caldwell were untouchable on Saturday, finishing 2nd on yardstick in 3 races.
Warren Guinea and Kerry Noyes won 2 of the 3 races on Sunday on their Nacra 5.8 in the lighter winds with Bruce and Matthew narrowly winning the last race to clinch the title.
Bundaberg sailor Brad Knoning finished 4th overall with some solid results.
The 16sq with its new modern square top sailor featured well in the results finishing 5th and 7th overall and winning a race on yardstick.
Was good to see Lloyd back on the water.
In the smaller fleet local sailor James Fraser finished 3rd overall on his new NACRA 4.5.
Craig Fraser on another 4.5 scored well on Sunday but could not beat his son overall.
A total of 58 boats competed at the regatta.
